Nu Alpha - Merritt Island
Nu Alpha held their annual backpack and school supply collection for the young female students of Devereux School.  Pictured are Sharon Haydon, (MAL)., Barbara Dyal, Alisann Del Favero, Patsy Morgan, Liz Hahn, Lisa Huff, Roberta Martin, Linda Takach, Jan Hall, Jan Billias, and Cathy Czyzewski.

MID YEAR 2017

Nu Alpha will be working hard to give you a memorable Mid Year, where we will “Fall” back in time to the Fab Fifties.  Start thinking of a great 50’s outfit to wear so you will be eligible for a door prize drawing.

Our inspiration  for the 50’s theme probably stemmed in part from the business meeting in May when we held a themed meeting at Liz’s home:

Nu Alpha gathered for a great luncheon on Saturday August 6 to donate backpacks and school supplies to Devereux School. Also in attendance were Helen Carter, PPA and currently MAL and guest Margaret Gaydusek.
State convention at “The Plantation” was awesome, and Nu Alpha members who attended left smiling.
Members joined forces in April to walk for “Womens Center Sexual Assault Awareness.”
Nu Alpha's Cathy Czyzewski created a school bus,  where she and Liz Hahn took it to Leadership to be filled with items for FSDB.  President Barbara then delivered the bus loaded with activities, panties and all that ESA Florida had to fill them to capacity.

Nu Alpha's Business meeting was a themed event:  Tailgate party to kick off the football season.  Patsy Morgan hosted the meeting, and served meatball subs, and many trimmings.  Everyone wore their favorite football team tee shirt, and birthday cake was served as dessert to celebrate, member, Roberta Martin's birthday.  Patsy's table cover was a green, football field,  and of course, the president got to sit on the  50-yard line.  Plates were football design.  It was so much fun.  We had a variety of beverages, and that's top secret.

Front row:  Cathy Czyzewski, Roberta Martin, Jan Billias.  Back row is Alisann Del Favero, Barbara Dyal, Jan Hall, Patsy Morgan and Linda Takach.

I think the meeting was a "Win"

Nu Alpha had another successful fundraiser for the Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind. Members outdid themselves, topping previous years by selling more tickets and making even more spectacular auction items. We wish to thank all of our ESA members who contributed and those who drove many miles to attend. This year we were fortunate to have former FSD&B students LeAndra and Eugene Clark speak to us about the school. Patsy Cline, played by Jan Billias, was hilarious as our entertainer and the "old bags," played by Jan Hall and Cathy Czyzewski, kept the crowd laughing as they campaigned to elect Maxine for President. It was a delightful afternoon, topped off with a delicious lunch prepared by the Cocoa Beach Country Club.

On February 5th, Nu Alpha held a special workshop at the home of Liz Hahn to
demonstrate how to make a gift basket. Alisann DelFavero and Liz Hahn
"killed two birds with one stone" and turned the workshop into an
Educational Program. It was fun for all with a Mardi Gras theme and
delicious Cajun food. President Linda's theme, Tis the Season, was turned
into another Educational Program by Liz Hahn as it was the season for Mardi
Gras. We even had green, gold and purple King Cake cupcakes. Nu Alpha is
busy making gift baskets for our upcoming fundraiser "Olde Bags and Baskets
Luncheon and Auction" which will benefit the Florida School for the Deaf and the
Blind. In addition to the workshop, Florida State President Barbara Fry
conducted a pledge ceremony for Cathy Czyzewski, Nu Alpha's newest member.

In December, Nu Alpha members Liz Hahn, Barbara Dyal and Cathy Czyzewski visited our Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind student Dominique. They toured the FSDB facility with guide Amy and purchased beautiful Christmas items in the garden. They had lunch at Jaybirds where Dominique ordered chicken wings and savored them. Dominique's smile lit up the room when she opened all her gifts, proof that Jan Billias did a great job shopping for the gifts purchased by Nu Alpha members.
