“It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our dear Cathy Lyons. Even though her illness was the reason for her to retire earlier than she planned, Cathy enjoyed her year-long retirement before losing her battle with cancer. She was proud of the 40 years she spent working at ESA International Headquarters and serving the many members she was so dedicated to. Cathy will be missed by many, including her ESA family. We would like to thank you for your love, support and prayers. At Cathy’s request there will be no public service, and in lieu of flowers, donations made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Cathy’s memory would be greatly appreciated.”
While we are all saddened by this news, we know that Cathy is at peace. Let’s all say a prayer of thanks for all of her gifts that she shared with us over the years. She truly personified the words in our ritual—truthfulness, friendliness, virtue, honesty, graciousness and poise.

Just a short response to my health.... I have been ill with right side extreme pain ...been in the ER three times, had been given 3 cat scans.... been given on Cat scan to may sure I did not have a stroke.... been given morphine, codine...kept me on heavy drugs...Had my internal doctor given me back patches for muscle sprams... and released me from Eglin AFB hospital all drug up.... for the pain.. I was then given an MRI at Sacred Heart Hospital (my doctor at Eglin failed to get the blood and lab work to Sacred Heart Hospital for the MRI (Full) .... they then did a short version..... My Grandson who live and works in a clinic in Orlando got me some steroids to ease the pain. After the time from Aug.20 to now...was able to see the head of Internal Medicine ...he read the MRI.... it seems that I have a severe right neural formainal stenois, disc is mildly narrow small spur formation, and there is a large facet hypertrophy on the right side. This results in severe right neural formainal stenois,,...Disc is moderely to severely narrow small spur formation. There is a mild disc bulging and there is moderate left neural forminal stenosis..... this is what Dr. Morton said is pinched nerves being on severe pain. I am now referrred to a Neurological Surgery and will see Dr. Southern and will see him October 1..... They are talking right now of surgery.... Sorry I have not let anyone know cause have been bed most of the time. At least I don't have the dry heaves.... and Bill has been good at taking care of me... been in bed most of the time. Sorry about the misspelled words ....but cannot sit or stand long times.. Have not hear from any of our Alpha Beta sisters lately.... Eileen
Eileen Barrett, 2004-5 FSC President, Alpha Beta, Panama City. Eileen has been in bed with severe back pain for several weeks. Trips to the ER, doctors, and tests without definitive results, hopefully an MRI on Tuesday will give results for treatment. Prayers for relief from pain, and treatment would be appreciated.
Eileen's update on Peggy Jacob, Alpha Beta -- she had the suspicious melanoma removed at Moffitt Cancer Hospital in Tampa and came home with good news. Please continue with prayers for healing.
